Seat belts saves lives and helps passengers stay safe while traveling. The Texas Department of Transportation emphasize its importance in one of its published posts. AutoGlass Safety Council

Cleaning Seat belts

Mobiloil.com shared step-by-step instructions on how to clean seat belts.

“First, the belts and harnesses have to be stripped. To remove the buckles, turn them upside-down on a soft surface such as a rolled-up terry towel. Next, a couple of thin gasket or paint scrapers must be inserted into each side of the buckle.”

“Here are the items you’ll need for this task. So, the first step is to open the door and gently pull the seat belt most of the way out of the retractor. Use a clamp to prevent the belt from retracting back into the spool while you’re working on it. Next, lightly spray fabric cleaner on the fibers and scrub with a medium to stiff bristle brush. Scrub in the direction of the fibers, and avoid circles, or rubbing up and down. Over time and with excess pressure.”
